We had a picture of Jesus working on carpentry with Joseph. It was interesting to talk about what Jesus' parents taught him when he was growing up.
We had lots of fake food in a bag, so the children took turns picking a food and stating whether or not Jesus would have eaten it. It was fun to talk about all the different foods and compare and contrast our childhoods with His. The lesson went on hold for a few minutes so we could pantomime devouring all the delicious pretend food!
We talked about rabbinical schools and what sort of education boys had in biblical times. The children were very interested in scrolls and disappointed that the teacher had only brought one big scroll to show the class, rather than little ones for each of them to take home. Since it is spring break, some of them would like to make their own popsicle stick scrolls as an art project with Mom.
We had lots of fun coloring choices today--a lamb, a bunny, some butterflies, and a pair of daffodils--all happy things that grow in the spring.
