Yesterday's card turned a portrait-oriented layout into landscape mode. Today's is upside down. How many more permutations are there to explore before the Tuesday challenge deadline?

This week's MFT card challenge was much more to my taste, as evidenced by the fact that my first entry is complete within hours of the sketch being revealed! It was fun to use a few little pieces of the ribbon that usually languishes in the stash.
When I saw the MFT Card Challenge last Wednesday, I was not enthusiastic. Five triangles of unequal size, arranged asymmetrically? Not my style at all! However, after a few days of thought and examination of others' interpretation of the sketch, I decided that five floral elements would suffice. The Rose Cottage paper pack (see previous post for more about that impulse purchase) had some interesting flowers to fussy cut, so it was pretty much plug-and-play from there. Here's where the funny math comes in: it's technically four pieces of paper, but I am counting the white and pink flowers at lower left as distinct units for the purpose of the sketch. Hopefully that works? Since I never win the gift card anyway (it's a random draw), it does not matter too much if I am disqualified. The photo below does not capture the full glory of the gold tag, but the submission deadline is minutes away and I need a nap, so it will have to do. :)
King Arthur Flour sent this recipe for Pancake Bread, so I doubled it and made 24 Maple Muffins. A few deviations from the original recipe:
I also didn't put in the recommended maple extract or wait eight hours to eat one. They had a lovely flavor because of all the fancy sugars. Not sure what I think of the streusel--it was a crunchier texture than what I typically make, but it tasted okay. This card is 5.5" square, because that is approximately the size of the corresponding birthday present. The latest MFT birthday project challenge is to use rainbows, hence the fun background paper.
We had six children for Friday fun, so of course two of them wanted to bake cupcakes! Abigail chose scalloped floral papers (left) and Benjamin chose a black-and-white motif (right). We used a chocolate cake mix. Abby measured the oil, and we each cracked an egg. They could use more practice with eggs, so we definitely need to make more cupcakes together!
A recent addition to the paper stash: the Recollections Rose Cottage Paper Pad, whose purchase was justified by its sale price, an additional 20% off coupon, and the promise to myself that it would be put to good use. It has joined an alarmingly large and growing collection of beautiful paper, which does not seem to diminish much no matter how many cards and scrapbook layouts I make! My plan to spend all of Spring Break making cards and knitting did not work out exactly as planned, but I did manage to come up with something for the latest MFT Card Challenge. Both cards feature the aforementioned paper pack, with a little help from gold paper from a Spellbinders kit and some birthday self-adhesive pearls.
