The lesson was about the importance of families. The children brought pictures to show each other, and we discussed how each family had different people in it, but they all loved and helped each other. We talked about the angel Gabriel telling Mary that she would be Jesus's mother, and then Joseph seeing an angel in a dream and learning about his role as Jesus's stepfather. The children were familiar with a lot of this story, but they didn't recognize the angel in the picture of the Annunciation--they thought he was Joseph, or Jesus, or Heavenly Father. It was interesting to learn that angels look a lot like everybody else. The children were glad to know that Jesus had parents to teach and protect him, just like they do.
Our coloring activity was some cute little heart animals! As usual, we had several different coloring styles, and, as usual, a few of the girls wanted to stay and finish their artwork when Mom was ready to leave!
