We talked about activities that are appropriate to do on Sunday, and others that are important and fun, but should not be done on Sunday. We took our word strips with activities and placed them on the correct day of the calendar. . .except for the ones the children decided to keep instead. We had a big discussion about whether it was okay to write in a journal on Sunday, and another one about going to restaurants on the Sabbath.
We learned that Sunday is not the only time to think about keeping the Sabbath day holy. To do this, we must prepare on Saturday or earlier in the week, so that our house and clothes are clean and we have enough food to eat on the Sabbath.
We ended the class by coloring a Sabbath Day Book full of pictures of Sunday-appropriate activities. The children took their pages home to cut apart and assemble into a book, because coloring church pictures is a great Sunday activity!
