A thank-you card using a different section of the same 12x12 page as the Hot Chocolate card. I love all the sparkles!

My oldest niece celebrated her annual Bob Day by creating 25 greeting cards today. Things were busy at the end of the day, and I did not take a picture of the entire collection, but pictured below is one inspired by the new MFT Card Challenge. Emily is welcome to play with my paper any time!
Time for another last-minute card challenge entry! The offset square mat was more difficult than anticipated, as I really prefer to have everything in rectilinear alignment, but it was a pleasant break from recent scrapbook projects.
Another entry for the current card challenge (see the previous one here). The mirror cardstock lived up to its name--enjoy the glimpse into the craft room!
A recent addition to the paper stash: the Recollections Rose Cottage Paper Pad, whose purchase was justified by its sale price, an additional 20% off coupon, and the promise to myself that it would be put to good use. It has joined an alarmingly large and growing collection of beautiful paper, which does not seem to diminish much no matter how many cards and scrapbook layouts I make! My plan to spend all of Spring Break making cards and knitting did not work out exactly as planned, but I did manage to come up with something for the latest MFT Card Challenge. Both cards feature the aforementioned paper pack, with a little help from gold paper from a Spellbinders kit and some birthday self-adhesive pearls.
Time to try out a Christmas present! This David Tutera Butterfly Favor Box made me so happy. Measuring about 2" on each side of the cube, it is a beautiful way to package a few sweets, or perhaps a very small gift. I love all the detail on the sides and the butterfly closure on top. Next step: find a suitably festive occasion to make several dozen more!
The children were very excited to eat their frosted sugar cookies with star sprinkles! We reviewed what we learned about baptism last week and discovered that everyone had been paying attention and remembered quite a bit. We talked about who we knew was present at Jesus's baptism: John the Baptist, Jesus Christ, and Heavenly Father. Then we learned that one more person was there: the Holy Ghost. We learned that the Holy Ghost does not have a body like we do. He is assigned by Heavenly Father to help us, like Jesus was. We discussed that the Holy Ghost can help us to make good choices and help us to know what is true. Some of the children mentioned having a peaceful feeling at church or reading the scriptures, which they recognized as the Holy Ghost testifying to them. We watched a music video. The children noticed several boys and girls being confirmed. We learned that we are confirmed members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints after we are baptized, and we receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost. We learned that this gift entitles us to the help and direction of the Spirit as long as we are righteous. The children remembered going to baptisms and seeing people be confirmed. They also enjoyed the music and the other images in the video -- it seemed to be made for our class! We had fun coloring all of these beautiful presents. We learned today that, when we are old enough, we can receive a gift that is far better than a big stack of birthday presents!
Today's lesson was all about faith. We started by discussing what faith is: believing in something that exists and/or is true, even if we can't see it. We learned that it is most important to have faith in Jesus Christ, and that the scriptures contain many examples of people who demonstrated this faith. We learned about Bartimaeus, a blind man who asked Jesus to heal him. The children agreed that being blind would be a great burden--"you couldn't do anything, you would just have to do nothing all the time"--and they were happy that Bartimaeus had the faith to receive his sight. We learned about the faithful Nephites, who were visited by Jesus Christ after his Resurrection. The children were interested to know that He healed their sick and injured people, just as he had healed Blind Bartimaeus. We reviewed what we had learned about the First Vision in a prior class. The children are very proficient in telling this story! We talked about how we have faith that Heavenly Father will answer our prayers, but the answer will usually be a feeling or whisper from the Holy Ghost, not a vision.
We ended class by coloring our choice of two flower pictures, because faith is like a little seed. We talked a little about Alma 32, and how our faith needs to be nourished with prayer, scripture study, and choosing the right. It was Special Helper Sunday! Our usual Primary Pianist was out of town, so Sister Clark sat with the Super Class while Sister Combs played the piano in Sharing Time. Then, when we arrived at the classroom, Brother and Sister Echeverria had decorated the chairs with cars! They stayed to help with the teaching and cookie-eating, and did a great job with both. The primary topic of discussion during our stop light sugar cookie snack break was, "What is our lesson about today??" Post-cookie, the children turned over the cars and discovered that each one had a word, sticker, or object on the back. We took turns doing the activities represented by the symbols, and learned about many different laws and how they keep us safe and happy. We learned that a Pharisee tried to confuse Jesus by asking him if it was important to pay taxes. Jesus showed the Pharisee the portrait on the front of the coin and told him to give Caesar what belonged to Caesar, and give God what is God's. We learned that this means we should obey the laws of our country as well as Heavenly Father's laws. Note: We used a different picture to go with this story in our class. . .but the subject matter is the same! We finished by coloring one of two pictures: a fireman dog, to remind us to be kind to animals and obey the law, or a pair of flowers, to remind us not to litter, so the plants can grow. Actually, most of the children colored both. We are grateful for the laws that protect us every day, and for the ward members that helped our class today!
